Kazakhstan and Russia Strengthen Strategic Partnership
Astana, The Gulf Observer: The ongoing visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kazakhstan is set to further strengthen the multifaceted cooperation between the two nations, as highlighted in a briefing held by President Putin in Astana. The talks between the two Heads of State covered a broad spectrum of issues, focusing on bilateral cooperation in the political, economic, and humanitarian sectors, as well as key regional and international matters.
President Putin noted that the Joint Statement signed following the discussions sets ambitious new objectives for deepening the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Russia. He emphasized that the intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements, spanning areas such as transport, healthcare, and justice, would be pivotal in achieving the goals outlined in the Joint Statement.
Earlier, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev warmly greeted President Putin at the Astana airport, marking the beginning of the state visit. During a restricted-attendance meeting at the Akorda presidential residence, both leaders reiterated the strong foundation of strategic partnership and alliance that underpins their countries’ relations.
As part of the visit, Presidents Tokayev and Putin participated in the XX Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia, which was held via videoconferencing.
The visit follows an invitation from President Tokayev and is set to include President Putin’s participation in the regular session of the CSTO Collective Security Council. The discussions are expected to further enhance the bilateral relationship, with both sides committed to expanding cooperation across various sectors.
