UAE and Australian Chambers Sign MoU to Boost Trade and Investment Cooperation

Sharjah, The Gulf Observer: Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Vice Chairman of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), reaffirmed the Federation’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships aimed at advancing local business expansion into strategic global markets.
Al Owais made these remarks during a signing ceremony at the SCCI headquarters, where a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI). The agreement is part of broader efforts to create greater value for the UAE’s private sector and national economy by promoting Emirati entrepreneurship and investment opportunities abroad, with a particular focus on the Australian market.
The MoU was formally signed by Abdallah Sultan Al Owais and Lyall Gorman, Vice President of ACCI, in the presence of Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al-Awadi, Director-General of SCCI; Ahmed Juma Al Qaizi, Assistant Secretary-General of the UAE Chambers; and Dr. Fatema Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Director of International Relations Department at SCCI, along with senior officials from both institutions.
“By strengthening partnerships with international organisations, federations, and business entities, we aim to expand cooperation, enhance joint initiatives, and deepen trade, economic, and investment ties,” Al Owais stated.
Lyall Gorman welcomed the signing of the MoU as a milestone for bilateral collaboration. He expressed optimism about expanding strategic dialogue and fostering mutual understanding to boost economic engagement, promote trade information exchange, and fortify business-to-business linkages.
The MoU outlines key areas of cooperation, including the exchange of market intelligence, insights into legal and regulatory developments, and mechanisms for supporting bilateral trade and investment. It also encourages the organisation of commercial delegations and business forums to strengthen ties between the UAE and Australian business communities.
Both sides emphasized their shared commitment to translating this partnership into tangible outcomes that contribute to sustainable economic growth and innovation across sectors.
