President Pezeshkian Pays Tribute to Allama Iqbal in Lahore

Lahore, The Gulf Observer: President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, commenced his official visit to Pakistan on Saturday by paying rich tribute to the country’s national poet, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, at his mausoleum in Lahore, the capital of Punjab province.
Accompanied by a high-ranking delegation, President Pezeshkian arrived in the historic city early Saturday morning and visited the final resting place of Allama Iqbal, also known as Iqbal Lahori, whose Persian and Urdu poetry and philosophical vision continue to inspire generations across the world.
At the mausoleum, President Pezeshkian laid a floral wreath and observed a moment of reverence in honor of the great philosopher-poet. He was joined by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, with whom he later signed the memorial visitors’ book, leaving a message of respect for Iqbal’s enduring legacy.
Upon his arrival in Lahore, President Pezeshkian was warmly received by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, underscoring the depth of the bilateral ties between Pakistan and Iran.
The Iranian President is undertaking a two-day official visit to Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, with engagements planned in Lahore and Islamabad to strengthen cooperation in political, economic, cultural, and regional matters.
Allama Muhammad Iqbal, one of the most celebrated figures in South Asian history, is regarded as a visionary thinker, poet, and philosopher, whose concept of a separate Muslim state in British India laid the ideological foundation for the creation of Pakistan in 1947.
