Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: Tajikistan’s Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Sherali Kabir, held a meeting yesterday with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Tajikistan, Alireza Haghighiyan, to discuss enhanced bilateral cooperation. The details of the meeting were shared by the Embassy of Iran in Tajikistan.

During the discussions, both sides explored opportunities to expand collaboration in industry, the mining sector, and new technologies. Ambassador Haghighiyan highlighted the significant potential for partnership and stressed the importance of stronger coordination between the relevant ministries and departments of both nations.

Minister Sherali Kabir praised the advanced level of industrial and technological development in Iran, emphasizing the need for regular meetings, industry exhibitions, and active engagement between business sectors to strengthen economic ties.

The meeting comes as Tajikistan and Iran work toward increasing bilateral trade turnover to USD 500 million, a target discussed earlier during talks between Tajik Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Both sides have agreed that the abolition of visas between the two countries would play a pivotal role in boosting trade. President Pezeshkian also noted that a visa-free regime would enhance cultural cooperation and facilitate tourism.

Additionally, the potential involvement of Iranian investments in Tajikistan’s energy and transport sectors was highlighted as a key area of future collaboration.

Strengthening trade and economic relations remains a top priority for both nations as they seek to deepen strategic ties and broaden cooperation across multiple sectors.
