Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia secured significant investment commitments and attracted millions of visitors through its participation at Expo 2025 in Osaka, reflecting strong economic and diplomatic performance, the Ministry of National Development Planning (PPN) said on Wednesday.

Speaking at the launch of a book highlighting Indonesia’s participation at Expo 2025 in Jakarta, PPN Minister Rachmat Pambudy said the Indonesia Pavilion drew more than 3.5 million visitors, exceeding the initial target of 2.8 million.

He said Indonesia also secured investment commitments worth US$28.3 billion through 104 business sessions held during the expo. These engagements resulted in 20 memorandums of understanding, nine letters of intent, two joint venture agreements, one joint statement, and 11 tourism package deals.

Pambudy noted that the achievements reflected strong coordination among government institutions and the private sector. He expressed appreciation to President Prabowo Subianto for his guidance and support, stating that Indonesia’s successful participation would not have been possible without the president’s directives.

Expo 2025 Osaka, which ran from April 13 to October 13, featured 234 activities organized by Indonesia, including exhibitions and cultural performances. These activities involved various ministries, state institutions, regional governments, and business entities.

The Indonesia Pavilion showcased the country’s natural wealth and cultural diversity through a design developed by Didit Hendiprasetyo, while also presenting Indonesia’s development vision and engagement with the global community.

PPN Deputy Minister Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard said Indonesia’s presence at the Osaka Expo went beyond exhibition, positioning the country as an active contributor to global dialogue.

“Indonesia is not merely following global dynamics, but offering ideas, promoting values, and presenting solutions toward a more balanced and sustainable future,” he said.

He added that the pavilion successfully engaged visitors both emotionally and intellectually, further strengthening Indonesia’s economic and cultural diplomacy throughout the expo.
