Tajikistan, Turkmenistan Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthening Strategic Partnership

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with Tangryguly Atahallyyev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, in Dushanbe on March 4 to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding the strategic partnership between the two countries.

According to the Tajik presidential press service, the talks focused on the current state of relations as well as future prospects for collaboration in key sectors.

President Rahmon noted the steady progress in Tajik-Turkmen relations and highlighted the considerable potential for expanding cooperation in areas such as trade, industry, transport and logistics, and agriculture.

Both sides also expressed interest in enhancing cultural and humanitarian ties, including cooperation in sports, tourism, youth exchanges, and cultural and scientific-educational initiatives.

During the meeting, the role of the Tajik-Turkmen Intergovernmental Commission was underscored as an important mechanism for ensuring the effective implementation of bilateral agreements.

The discussions further emphasized the importance of maintaining regular intergovernmental dialogue and strengthening coordination within international and regional organizations.

Deputy Chairman Atahallyyev arrived in Dushanbe to participate in the upcoming session of the Tajik-Turkmen Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, aimed at further promoting collaboration between the two countries.
