Pakistan Senate Hosts Cultural Event Marking Launch of Choral Qaumi Tarana, Celebrates Pakistan–Romania Partnership

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: The Senate of Pakistan hosted a distinguished cultural and diplomatic event, bringing together ambassadors of friendly countries, lawmakers, and esteemed guests to mark the official launch of Pakistan’s national anthem, Qaumi Tarana, in a choral format, while celebrating the enduring partnership between Pakistan and Romania.
The programme commenced with an informal interaction between foreign envoys and Yousaf Raza Gillani, Chairman of the Senate, fostering a spirit of diplomatic engagement. This was followed by the inauguration of a diplomatic exhibition showcasing more than six decades of Romania–Pakistan bilateral relations, highlighting milestones in political dialogue, economic cooperation, and cultural exchange.
The exhibition was formally opened through a ribbon-cutting ceremony jointly conducted by Chairman Gillani and Dan Stoenescu. Foreign ambassadors and Pakistani parliamentarians toured the displays, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening international cooperation and friendship.
A key highlight of the event was the performance of Pakistan’s national anthem in its historic choral arrangement by the Romanian National Chamber Choir Madrigal – Marin Constantin. The performance took place during the opening of the Senate’s plenary session in the presence of ambassadors, senators, and distinguished guests.
On the occasion, Chairman Gillani recalled that on Pakistan Day, Romania presented Pakistan with the first-ever professional choral arrangement and written musical score of its national anthem. He noted that this landmark cultural initiative coincided with Pakistan’s significant diplomatic role in facilitating a ceasefire in the Middle East.
The Chairman expressed appreciation to Romanian authorities for their support in advancing this historic initiative, describing it as a lasting cultural bridge symbolizing friendship, mutual respect, and a shared vision for deepening bilateral relations. During the plenary session, senators from both treasury and opposition benches also conveyed their gratitude to Romania for the gesture.
The event reaffirmed the strength of Pakistan–Romania relations and underscored the vital role of cultural diplomacy in bringing nations closer together.
