JD Vance Praises Pakistan’s Diplomatic Leadership in Facilitating US–Iran Dialogue

Dialogue

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: JD Vance has commended Pakistan’s leadership for its pivotal role in facilitating recent diplomatic engagements between the United States and Iran, lauding the country’s efforts in hosting and mediating the dialogue.

In an interview with an American television network, Vice President Vance said he wished to give full credit to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir for demonstrating exceptional leadership and hospitality during the diplomatic process held in Pakistan. He noted that both leaders played a crucial role in fostering constructive engagement between the two sides.

Vance highlighted that Pakistan’s efforts were particularly significant given the prolonged absence of serious negotiations between Washington and Tehran. He described the mediation as a reflection of prudent diplomacy and strategic foresight, enabling dialogue between two nations that had long avoided direct talks.

The US Vice President further emphasized that Pakistan’s facilitation helped create a platform for meaningful communication, marking an important step forward in efforts to ease longstanding tensions between the United States and Iran.

It is noteworthy that the first phase of negotiations between the delegations was held in Islamabad on April 11, where discussions continued for approximately 21 hours. However, the talks concluded without reaching a final agreement.

Vance added that despite the absence of a conclusive deal, positive progress had been made in the negotiations with Iran. He confirmed that the United States had presented its proposals to Tehran, and the next move now rests with the Iranian side.
