Chinese FM Meets Indonesian Counterpart in Jakarta
Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi engaged in a significant diplomatic rendezvous on Thursday as he met with his Indonesian counterpart, Retno Marsudi, in Jakarta during an official visit to the country.
Wang, a distinguished member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized China’s unwavering commitment to fortify the enduring friendship shared with Indonesia. Expressing readiness to deepen strategic mutual trust, Wang underscored the imperative of fostering a China-Indonesia community with a shared future. He further highlighted the importance of implementing the action plan on comprehensive strategic partnership to propel bilateral relations into a new phase of development.
Reiterating China’s staunch support for Indonesia’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, Wang reaffirmed the mutual commitment to uphold each other’s core interests. Stressing the necessity of enhancing synergy in development strategies, Wang advocated for elevating practical cooperation under the high-quality Belt and Road initiative.
Wang also pledged China’s support for its enterprises to invest and conduct business endeavors in Indonesia. Additionally, he expressed willingness to augment imports of high-quality Indonesian products in alignment with market demand, while urging for the maintenance of stability and predictability in Indonesia’s commodity export policy to facilitate a conducive environment for Chinese enterprises.
Furthermore, Wang articulated China’s eagerness to collaborate closely with Indonesia to advance the high-quality development of China-ASEAN relations. Emphasizing the consolidation of the ASEAN-led regional architecture, he underscored the imperative of safeguarding peace and stability in the South China Sea.
In response, Retno Marsudi conveyed the Indonesian government’s profound commitment to enhancing relations with China, firmly adhering to the one-China policy. She expressed Indonesia’s anticipation to continue bolstering the comprehensive strategic partnership, amplifying economic and investment cooperation, and jointly combating transnational crimes, including telecommunication fraud. Retno underscored the shared objective of safeguarding peace, stability, and security in the region.
