Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính welcomed Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs Yván Gil Pinto in Hà Nội on June 8. During their meeting, PM Chính reaffirmed Việt Nam’s commitment to its traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership with Venezuela, expressing confidence that the minister’s visit would further enhance bilateral relations, particularly in areas where both nations have significant potential and demand.
PM Chính emphasized the importance of close coordination to foster exchanges at all levels and implement measures to strengthen bilateral relations, building on agreements made during Deputy Prime Minister Trần Lưu Quang’s visit to Venezuela in April and the discussions between the two foreign ministers on June 8. He highlighted the necessity for the Inter-governmental Committee to convene soon to promote economic cooperation and stressed the importance of maintaining mutual consultations at international organizations and multilateral forums. Additionally, he called for continued negotiations to finalize cooperation agreements in consular affairs, trade, investment, education, digital transformation, cyberspace, locality-to-locality connections, and people-to-people exchanges, aiming to create a favorable legal framework for deepening and diversifying the partnership.
Acknowledging that bilateral trade and investment relations remain modest compared to their potential, PM Chính urged both countries’ agencies to actively promote business delegation exchanges, organize trade and investment promotion activities, and facilitate market access for key products from both nations. This, he stated, would help unlock mutually beneficial cooperation and investment opportunities.
Minister Yván Gil Pinto congratulated Việt Nam on its socio-economic achievements, recognizing Việt Nam as a model for development and foreign relations that Venezuela aspires to follow. He emphasized the Venezuelan Government’s high regard for Việt Nam’s growing role and influence in regional and global affairs.
Expressing a desire to further strengthen ties through various channels, including Party, Government, State, National Assembly, and people-to-people exchanges, Minister Pinto briefed PM Chính on his productive meetings with Vietnamese officials, including Secretary of the Party Central Committee and head of its Commission for External Relations Lê Hoài Trung, and Foreign Minister Bùi Thanh Sơn. The discussions covered extensive issues of mutual concern, suggesting specific measures and agreeing on a bilateral cooperation program focusing on energy, telecommunications, construction, agriculture, and pharmaceuticals.
Minister Pinto also expressed Venezuela’s willingness to facilitate visa applications for Vietnamese citizens to enhance people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. He conveyed President Nicolás Maduro’s regards to Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng and congratulations to President Tô Lâm on his election.
This visit marks a significant step in reinforcing the longstanding friendship and comprehensive partnership between Việt Nam and Venezuela, setting the stage for deeper collaboration and mutual growth.
