Chinese Vice Premier and Belgian PM Discuss Bilateral and China-Europe Relations
Brussels, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang and Alexander De Croo, the caretaker Prime Minister of Belgium, held significant talks on Wednesday, focusing on the enhancement of bilateral relations and the broader China-Europe relationship.
Ding Xuexiang, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the productive outcomes of the China-Belgium all-round friendly cooperative partnership. This progress, he noted, has been achieved under the strategic guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Belgian leaders.
Vice Premier Ding emphasized the necessity of consolidating political mutual trust and deepening cooperation in various sectors, including economy, trade, science, technology, and green initiatives. He also underscored the importance of strengthening cultural and people-to-people exchanges to further advance China-Belgium relations, ultimately benefiting the peoples of both nations.
Addressing shared interests, Ding reiterated China’s and Belgium’s mutual opposition to protectionism and their commitment to safeguarding free trade. He expressed optimism that Belgium would play a constructive role in enhancing practical cooperation between China and Europe, as well as in managing economic and trade differences.
Prime Minister De Croo affirmed Belgium’s commitment to its relationship with China, adhering to the one-China principle. He conveyed Belgium’s willingness to enhance communication and deepen exchanges and cooperation with China across various fields, aiming to foster the sustainable development of Belgium-China and Europe-China relations.
