Dushanbe Hosts 21st SPECA Trade Working Group Meeting During Paperless Trade Week

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: The 21st meeting of the Working Group of the United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) on trade was held on June 8 as part of Paperless Trade Week.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Ahliddin Nuriddinzoda said that, thanks to the wise policies of President Emomali Rahmon and the leaders of SPECA member states, cooperation has strengthened in addressing issues related to trade connectivity, digitalization of data exchange in Trans-Caspian transport corridors, improved transport interconnectivity for sustainable Eurasian links, as well as energy connectivity within and beyond the region, and the development of sustainable trade, innovation, and circular economy practices.
Heads of delegations from SPECA member states — including Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan — presented updates on the implementation of the Working Group’s 2025–2026 Road Map and reviewed significant progress in trade development across the SPECA region.
Representatives of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) also took part in discussions on digitalization and the development of digital trade, while the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and other development partners contributed to discussions on event organization and the implementation of concrete measures to advance trade facilitation.
