Indonesia Condemns Israel’s Obstruction of Humanitarian Aid to Gaza
Bogor, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi has accused Israel of systematically impeding the delivery of international humanitarian aid, including from Indonesia, to the oppressed Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. This assertion was made during a meeting at the Bogor Palace in Bogor City, West Java, on Friday.
“Talks on this matter are still ongoing. I believe that Israel has been attempting to obstruct the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza in a systematic manner,” Marsudi stated.
The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs had issued an official statement on Thursday, May 16, expressing Indonesia’s deep concern over Israel’s persistent efforts to disrupt the inflow of humanitarian assistance.
“The most recent event was the looting of aid by Israeli civilians in the presence of Israeli apparatus,” Marsudi noted.
The minister reiterated Indonesia’s firm condemnation of any acts aimed at hindering the distribution of urgently needed humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in Gaza. She also highlighted Indonesia’s call for sanctions against the looters and stressed the need for preventive measures to avoid recurrence of such incidents.
“We have urged the UN Security Council to prevent the recurrence of such an event and ensure the unhindered distribution of humanitarian assistance,” Marsudi pointed out. Earlier, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs had condemned in the strongest terms the actions of Israeli settlers against the distribution of humanitarian aid donated by various countries, including Indonesia.
“Indonesia strongly condemns the blockade and ransacking carried out by Israeli civilians on humanitarian assistance from the international community for the people of Gaza,” the ministry stated on its social media account on Thursday.
The ministry further noted that the unimpeded blockade and ransacking of humanitarian aid by Israeli extremists reflect Israel’s opposition to the delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip.
“This action should be duly prosecuted, and steps must be taken to ensure that it does not happen again,” the ministry affirmed.
