Iranian First Vice President Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Tehran–Dushanbe Relations

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: The First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Mohammad-Reza Aref, affirmed that there are no obstacles to the further expansion of Tehran–Dushanbe relations during a meeting with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Emomali Rahmon, held on Thursday in Dushanbe.
Vice President Aref conveyed the warm and sincere greetings of Iranian President H.E. Masoud Pezeshkian to President Rahmon, underlining the deep-rooted affinity between the two nations. “Iranians and Tajiks always feel at home in each other’s countries,” Aref stated, emphasizing the enduring civilizational, cultural, historical, and linguistic bonds that unite the two nations.
He also expressed Iran’s readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation in a wide range of fields, particularly in the establishment and development of scientific and research centers, academic institutions, and expanded partnerships in scientific, technological, and cultural spheres.
President Rahmon welcomed the strengthening of ties between Tajikistan and Iran and expressed satisfaction with the progress being made in various areas of cooperation. He underscored the importance of timely implementation of signed agreements and documents as key to advancing bilateral relations.
Highlighting the positive impact of the visa waiver agreement, President Rahmon noted its role in boosting tourism between the two countries. He also stressed the importance of preserving shared historical and civilizational values as a cornerstone of mutual understanding and collaboration.
President Rahmon expressed appreciation for Vice President Aref’s participation in the International Conference on Glaciers Preservation, taking place in Dushanbe from May 29 to 31, 2025. He hailed the visit as a reflection of Iran’s commitment to environmental and scientific cooperation.
Earlier in the day, Vice President Aref visited Talco Cable Industries, a facility that sources a substantial portion of its raw materials, equipment, and machinery from Iranian private sector companies. He also signed the factory’s guestbook, noting Iran’s continued support for industrial and technological collaboration with Tajikistan.
