Turkmenistan and UNICEF Strengthen Cooperation in Education Development

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: On December 23, the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, J. Gurbangeldyev, held a productive meeting with Jalpa Ratna, the head of the UNICEF representative office in Turkmenistan. The discussion focused on evaluating joint achievements and exploring future collaboration opportunities in education, particularly in developing STEAM initiatives and promoting inclusive education.

Key achievements under the UNICEF Country Programme for 2021–2025 were highlighted during the meeting. Notable milestones included the establishment of a robotics club in Arkadag and the launch of early development centers in kindergartens in Ashgabat and Lebap velayat.

The Minister of Education underscored the significance of strategic frameworks, such as the “National Action Plan for the Implementation of Children’s Rights in Turkmenistan for 2023–2028” and the “National Strategy for Early Childhood Development for 2020–2025”, in advancing the nation’s education system.

Modernizing the education sector was a central theme, with discussions emphasizing the integration of digital technologies, the development of interactive learning materials, and the professional training of educators. Jalpa Ratna commended Turkmenistan’s substantial progress in modernizing its education system and reaffirmed UNICEF’s commitment to supporting the country’s educational initiatives.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties reiterated their dedication to continuing joint efforts to ensure high-quality, inclusive, and accessible education for every child in Turkmenistan.
