Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov Participates in Tehran Dialogue Forum 2025

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, took part in the Tehran Dialogue Forum 2025, held on May 18–19 in the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported.

The international event was organized by the Center for Political and International Studies under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran and brought together senior officials, diplomats, and policy experts to discuss pressing regional and global issues.

Speaking at the panel discussion titled “From the Indian Subcontinent to Eurasia: Transport Corridors, Geo-Economics and Emerging Potentials”, Minister Meredov presented Turkmenistan’s vision on enhancing regional and intercontinental transport and logistics connectivity.

He emphasized that the effective implementation of continental corridors should serve as a cornerstone of international cooperation. In this context, he highlighted Turkmenistan’s strategic initiative titled “Revival of the Great Silk Road”, which aims to establish an inclusive integration platform across Eurasia.

Minister Meredov elaborated on Turkmenistan’s key priorities in transport diplomacy, including the development of national infrastructure projects, the construction of railways and highways, and the modernization of port facilities on the Caspian Sea. He underscored the importance of strengthening regional transport and logistics partnerships involving Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Iran.

The Foreign Minister also drew attention to the critical role of sustainable transport in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He recalled the successful hosting of the First UN Global Conference on Sustainable Transport held in Ashgabat in 2016, underscoring Turkmenistan’s ongoing contribution to the global transport dialogue.

Furthermore, Meredov addressed the energy dimension of Turkmenistan’s foreign economic strategy, stressing the country’s efforts to diversify energy export routes. In particular, he mentioned the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project and initiatives to expand electricity exports to the West Asian region.

On the sidelines of the forum, Minister Meredov held a series of bilateral meetings with representatives of participating countries. The discussions focused on prospects for deepening interstate cooperation across various sectors.

The Tehran Dialogue Forum 2025 served as a significant platform for advancing dialogue and collaboration on issues of mutual interest in the Eurasian region and beyond.
