Empowering Futures: Gurbanguly Charitable Foundation’s Transformative Impact on Children’s Health and Development

By providing medical, educational and spiritual help to kids in Turkmenistan and abroad, the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care continues to expand its services as a way to honor Turkmenistan’s lasting commitment to child welfare.
By the end of 2023, 260 life-saving surgeries had been performed by the Foundation, including 102 enhancing children’s movement, 117 eyelid surgeries restoring sight and 102 fixing heart and blood vessel problems. Also, the Foundation’s active interest in child health led to 47 children receiving comprehensive medical and preventative exams.
National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov led the Arkadag meeting, praise was given for past achievements and new directions were set out for the future. To check how the Foundation was moving forward, a conference gathered regional managers, leaders from around the country and healthcare specialists.
Thanks to the Foundation, 261 surgeries were performed in 2024 and made it possible for the children’s charity to perform 500 surgeries overall. Alongside healthcare, the Foundation ensured kids went through rehabilitation programs at the Arkadag-based Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Center, a key part of the Foundation’s healthcare mission.
Pioneering Healthcare Infrastructure
The Foundation has set “Dialog+” hemodialysis machines from Germany’s B. Braun in children’s hospitals all around Ashgabat and different provinces as part of its medical expansion, so significantly improving pediatric kidney care and raising life expectancy for children needing dialysis.
Modern medical equipment was also delivered to the Mary Velayat Children’s Hospital so that sophisticated treatments could reach even the most far-off areas of the nation.
Promoting Worldwide Solidarity
The Foundation’s impact goes beyond the boundaries of Turkmenistan. Children in Türkiye, Ukraine, Russia, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Palestine received humanitarian relief. While baby food produced by Turkmenistan’s medical cluster was sent to Afghanistan, Turkmenistan-built schools in Tajikistan’s Khatlon region received computers.
At the World Stage
The 57th session of the UN Commission on Population and Development honored the Foundation’s important work in honor of its relentless dedication to humanitarian causes, so underscoring its increasing worldwide profile.
Visionary Leadership and Institutional Reforms
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a decree improving the Foundation’s activities to help to strengthen operations. The updated Charter approved the establishment of two Vice-President posts: one for the industrial sector and another for medical affairs, occupied by Ms. Oguljahan Atabayeva. Azat Djepbarov became the Media Representative for the Foundation while Khajimyrad Khajimyradov was named Executive Officer.
Presented by Ms. Chernova, the accountant for the Foundation, her financial report detailed budget allocations for 2025 covering medical aid, gifts for children on national holidays, and international humanitarian relief.
Nurturing Minds and Spirits
The Foundation works in fields other than only healthcare. The activities of the Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Center, which presently looks after about 100 children, clearly show the value of education and cultural growth. 27 pupils from its kindergarten graduated into primary education in 2024.
The Center participates in international training and knowledge sharing under the direction of Austria’s SANLAS Holding GmbH. Recent seminars on autism care, early child development, and specialized clinical training let staff members make sure Turkmen professionals have global best practices.
Future Building: The “Güneşli” Centre
The stone-laying ceremony of the “Güneşli” Centre for Children and Youth in Ashgabat on June 1, 2025, signalled both a symbolic and pragmatic step toward a better future. Complementing International Children’s Day, the initiative highlights the state’s vision to offer Turkmenistan’s next generation complete care covering health, education, creativity, and sports.
Encouragement of children to explore the wonders of science and space, the new Centre will have modern educational and cultural facilities, an amphitheater, sports fields, and even an observatory with a telescope. Supported by prize money donated by the triumphant “Arkadag” football team, AFC Challenge League champions, the state children’s library, named after Bazar Amanov, will also be moved to this campus.
A Culture of Compassion and Continuity
The Foundation keeps commemorating national holidays by giving computers to graduates and children in orphanages so they are equipped for a digital future. Art education in recently built cultural centers throughout velayats, cultural celebrations, and creative workshops help to support the conviction that artistic participation drives personal development.
So concluding my analysis that under visionary direction of Hero-Arkadag the National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the Charitable Foundation is a lighthouse of compassion, development, and future-readiness. Its efforts confirm that no child is left behind in Turkmenistan, a country where every young heart is nurtured with care, every talent is given wings, and every child is considered as a bearer of future promise.
