Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev Meets TURKPA Secretary General Ramil Hasan to Strengthen Turkic Parliamentary Cooperation

Astana, The Gulf Observer: The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yermek Kosherbayev, held a meeting with Ramil Hasan, the newly appointed Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA), who officially assumed his duties on October 15, 2025, Kazinform News Agency reported, citing the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, both sides discussed key areas of cooperation within the framework of TURKPA and reviewed the outcomes of the 12th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, held on October 7, 2025, in Gabala.
Minister Kosherbayev expressed confidence that the decisions made at the Gabala Summit will further promote the implementation of joint projects under TURKPA. He emphasized Kazakhstan’s commitment to strengthening the parliamentary dimension of Turkic cooperation, noting that “TURKPA occupies a special place in the system of Turkic integration, serving as an important platform for enhancing inter-parliamentary dialogue and coordinating legislative initiatives among our countries.”
Secretary General Ramil Hasan, in turn, briefed the Minister on TURKPA’s ongoing activities—currently chaired by Kazakhstan—and outlined his vision for the future development of the Assembly.
Established on November 21, 2008, at the initiative of Kazakhstan, TURKPA brings together Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Türkiye as its member states. The organization’s chairmanship rotates annually among member countries in alphabetical order. At the 14th Plenary Session of TURKPA, held on June 12, 2025, in Astana, the chairmanship was formally transferred from Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan, reaffirming Kazakhstan’s leadership role in advancing Turkic parliamentary cooperation and integration.
