Moscow, The Gulf Observer: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held extended informal talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin on Tuesday, following his arrival in Moscow for a working visit. The meeting lasted for more than two and a half hours, according to media reports.

At the outset of the talks, President Tokayev expressed his gratitude for the warm reception extended to him in the Russian capital and emphasized the strength and depth of Kazakh–Russian relations.

“Mr. Vladimir Putin! First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratefulness for the warm welcome from the very first minutes in Moscow, on this sacred soil,” Tokayev said. “As for bilateral cooperation, it has the nature of a strategic partnership and allied relations. There is no area where our countries do not cross paths or work together. There are no serious issues between our nations. If problems do appear, they are resolved through the efforts of our heads of state and governments.”

President Tokayev noted that he had accepted President Putin’s invitation “with great pleasure” and welcomed the opportunity to exchange views in an informal atmosphere, adding that he intended to share his thoughts and observations on various aspects of bilateral relations.

In response, President Putin expressed his appreciation for President Tokayev’s visit and underlined the importance of maintaining close dialogue between the two countries.

“Mr. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, first, I would like to thank you for finding the time to come, as we agreed, with a state visit. I am sincerely grateful to you for that,” President Putin said. “Of course, we are in constant contact, but such meetings also hold great significance in international relations. Today, we have an opportunity to discuss all issues of mutual interest in an informal setting, and tomorrow, to go through the full agenda of our bilateral relations and look into the future.”

President Putin added that the current year had seen positive developments in the Kazakh–Russian partnership and expressed confidence that both sides would “close the year very well” while setting plans for the near and medium-term future.

The informal meeting underscored the close and cooperative nature of relations between Kazakhstan and Russia, rooted in a long-standing strategic partnership that spans political, economic, and cultural dimensions. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining an active dialogue and working together to strengthen regional stability and mutual development.
