Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Arabia has welcomed the ceasefire agreement reached between the United States and Iran, emphasizing the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz to ensure uninterrupted global trade and energy flows.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Kingdom’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs commended the announcement made by US President Donald Trump and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding the agreement.

Saudi Arabia praised the diplomatic efforts of Pakistan in facilitating the ceasefire, highlighting the constructive role of its leadership, particularly Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, in advancing the outcome.

The Kingdom reaffirmed its support for Pakistan’s mediation efforts aimed at securing a lasting agreement that promotes regional security and stability. It also underscored the need to address longstanding issues that have contributed to instability in the region over the years.

The statement stressed the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (1982), ensuring the free and secure flow of maritime navigation without restrictions.

Saudi Arabia expressed hope that the ceasefire would pave the way for comprehensive and sustainable de-escalation, strengthening regional security and ending actions that undermine the sovereignty and stability of countries across the region.
