Rubio Highlights TRIPP Initiative as Cornerstone of Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Efforts

Washington, The Gulf Observer: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Tuesday described the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) as a key pillar of efforts to support peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, saying the initiative has the potential to transform regional cooperation and economic development.
Speaking during a hearing of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Rubio said TRIPP serves as the anchor of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan and could play a broader role in promoting prosperity across the region.
“The Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) is the anchor of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and that’s critical. But it’s much more than just the anchor of a peace agreement; it really has the opportunity to revolutionize,” Rubio told lawmakers.
The secretary of state said the United States is actively engaged in advancing the initiative and has recently signed an agreement related to the project.
According to Rubio, the framework is expected to encourage private-sector investment and create new opportunities for American businesses while supporting economic growth and regional connectivity.
“We’re involved in that very heavily now. We have just literally signed the agreement and it will allow us to drive, and hopefully incentivize, private sector investment in this corridor to the benefit of American companies and American interests, but also to the benefit of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and other regional countries,” he said.
Rubio emphasized that the initiative could generate mutual economic benefits for the participating countries while strengthening regional stability and fostering greater international investment.
The remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at advancing normalization and long-term peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, with international partners seeking to support regional development and connectivity through new economic and infrastructure projects.
