Pakistan Armed Forces Neutralise 25 Indian-Operated Israeli Drones Amid Escalating Cross-Border Tensions

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: The Pakistan Armed Forces have successfully intercepted and neutralised 25 Israeli-made Harop drones deployed by India during recent cross-border operations, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced in an official statement on Thursday.
According to the military’s media wing, the drones were detected across multiple regions in Pakistan and were brought down using a combination of electronic countermeasures (soft-kill) and conventional air defence systems (hard-kill). The ISPR described the drone incursions as a “desperate and panicked response” to Pakistan’s retaliatory actions on May 6 and 7, during which five Indian fighter jets were downed and several military positions targeted.
“The Pakistan Armed Forces are responding decisively to all hostile actions and continue to thwart enemy intentions,” the statement asserted. Debris from the drones, identified as Israeli-origin Harop loitering munitions, is reportedly being recovered from various locations within Pakistani territory.
In a press briefing earlier the same day, Director General ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry provided further details, confirming that 12 Indian drones were intercepted and neutralised between May 7 and 8 in multiple locations including Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Bahawalpur, Mianwali, Karachi, Chor, Miano, and Attock. A 13th drone partially struck a military installation near Lahore, causing minor damage to equipment.
The DG ISPR reported that four Pakistan Army personnel were injured in the Lahore drone incident, while a civilian lost their life in Miano, Sindh. He termed the drone operations a “continued pattern of aggression” and affirmed that Pakistan’s forces remain on high alert to protect the nation’s airspace and sovereignty.
Referring to the destruction of five Indian aircraft by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Lieutenant General Chaudhry stated that India has “apparently lost the plot” and has incurred significant losses along the Line of Control (LoC) in recent days. He urged the international community to take serious note of India’s provocative military actions, warning that such escalations pose a threat not only to regional peace but to broader global security.
The drone offensive follows a recent Indian missile strike that killed 31 individuals and wounded 57 others across various Pakistani locations. India claimed the strike was in retaliation for an April 22 incident that resulted in the deaths of 26 Indian tourists.
The situation marks a serious deterioration in bilateral relations, with both sides engaging in high-level military posturing amid growing concerns over regional stability.
