President Mirziyoyev and Chinese NPC Chairman Pledge to Boost Strategic Partnership

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: During his state visit to the People’s Republic of China, Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a crucial meeting with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) of China, Zhao Leji. Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the highest level of relations between their nations, anticipating that the visit would further strengthen their comprehensive strategic partnership.
The meeting highlighted the remarkable growth in bilateral relations, with recent years witnessing a doubling of trade turnover and a tripling of joint ventures between Uzbekistan and China. The success of the first Uzbekistan-China Interregional Forum, held in Urumqi on January 22, showcased the expanding scope of interregional cooperation.
China’s successful anti-poverty initiatives captured Uzbekistan’s interest, with plans to actively implement similar strategies. Discussions revolved around the establishment of joint centers for technical education, studying China’s experience in social protection and insurance, and providing targeted assistance to the population.
The need to enhance inter-parliamentary dialogue and invigorate the activities of Uzbekistan-China friendship groups were underscored, emphasizing effective parliamentary control over the practical implementation of high-level agreements.
Cultural and humanitarian ties were a focal point, with both leaders expressing satisfaction over events like the Chinese Culture Days in Uzbekistan and activities in Beijing during the Uzbek Culture Days last year.
The meeting between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and NPC Chairman Zhao Leji reaffirmed the commitment of both nations to strengthen their strategic partnership across various sectors, reflecting the growing depth of their diplomatic and economic collaboration.
