Uzbekistan and Belarus Strengthen Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation During St. Petersburg Meeting

St. Petersburg, The Gulf Observer: On the sidelines of international parliamentary events in St. Petersburg, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbaeva, met with Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, Natalia Kochanova, to discuss the deepening of bilateral parliamentary cooperation and joint initiatives.
The meeting focused on reviewing the current state and future prospects of inter-parliamentary relations, as well as the preparations for the upcoming official visit of the Uzbek parliamentary delegation to the Vitebsk region, scheduled for August 2025.
Both sides emphasized the importance of the planned interregional forum, which will bring together local government representatives from both countries, the third Uzbek-Belarusian Women’s Business Forum, and a meeting of youth parliaments. These events are expected to further strengthen cooperation between regions, business sectors, youth, and women’s leadership in Uzbekistan and Belarus.
Cultural and humanitarian collaboration also featured prominently in the discussions. Uzbekistan reaffirmed its commitment to participating in international programs such as “Train of Memory” and “Children of the Commonwealth,” underscoring the role of such initiatives in fostering mutual understanding, preserving historical memory, and promoting friendship among nations.
The meeting also addressed cooperation within international organizations, particularly in the exchange of best practices in electoral processes and international observation missions.
Concluding the talks, both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to maintaining robust inter-parliamentary dialogue and ensuring the effective implementation of all agreements and joint initiatives. The meeting underscored a mutual aspiration to foster long-term collaboration across political, cultural, and social domains.
