Kazakh Prime Minister Highlights Environmental Cooperation at 1st International Environmental Conference in Russia’s Altai Republic

Manzherok, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov participated in the 1st International Environmental Conference held on Friday in Manzherok, Altai Republic, Russian Federation, according to primeminister.kz. Addressing the plenary session, Bektenov emphasized that environmental safety is not merely a component of the global “green” agenda, but a fundamental prerequisite for the sustainable development of any nation.
In his remarks, the Kazakh Prime Minister outlined Kazakhstan’s comprehensive and systemic efforts to protect the environment, noting the implementation of the Taza Qazaqstan (Clean Kazakhstan) program. The initiative seeks to promote a nationwide culture of environmental responsibility through public clean-up efforts, tree-planting campaigns, and awareness-raising activities.
Prime Minister Bektenov also highlighted Kazakhstan’s legislative and technological advancements in environmental governance. These include the modernization of environmental regulations, the adoption of eco-friendly technologies, and the digitalization of environmental monitoring systems. Among key initiatives is the establishment of a Biodiversity Conservation Fund, along with the expansion of protected natural areas and efforts to restore populations of rare and endangered species such as the Bactrian deer, Onager, Argali, Goitered gazelle, and Snow leopard. Reintroduction programs for the Turan tiger and Przewalski’s horse are also underway.
Underscoring the symbolic importance of the venue, Bektenov noted that the Altai region is widely regarded as the cradle of Turkic civilization, and a central pillar of cultural and humanitarian cooperation among the countries of the region.
The plenary session was attended by high-ranking officials from several nations, including Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Belarusian Prime Minister Alexander Turchin, Kyrgyz Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev, Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda, Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, and Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyev.
The conference provided a platform for regional leaders to exchange views on strengthening environmental cooperation and advancing joint strategies for ecological preservation and sustainable development across Eurasia.
