Turkmenistan, Belgium Discuss Expanding Bilateral Cooperation and EU Engagement

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova held talks with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to Turkmenistan, Julien de Fraipont, to review and expand bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed key issues on the bilateral agenda, with a particular focus on strengthening political and diplomatic dialogue, enhancing interaction between their foreign ministries, and further developing the legal framework governing Turkmen-Belgian relations.
Both parties underscored the importance of deepening Turkmenistan’s engagement with European countries. In this regard, they highlighted Belgium’s significant role in promoting cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union.
The discussions also included an exchange of views on collaboration within international platforms, particularly under the framework of the United Nations, reaffirming their shared commitment to multilateral cooperation.
Special attention was given to advancing trade and economic ties. The officials expressed mutual support for increasing business contacts and organizing joint initiatives involving private sector representatives from both countries.
Additionally, the meeting explored opportunities for strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation, including expanding inter-university partnerships to foster academic exchange and collaboration.
The talks reflected a shared commitment to further enhancing bilateral relations and exploring new avenues of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Belgium.
