Saudi and Iranian Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Developments Following Islamabad Talks

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation on Monday to discuss the latest regional developments, according to official statements.
The call, confirmed by the Saudi Foreign Ministry and Iran’s state news agency IRNA, comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East and follows recent diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation.
During the discussion, both sides reviewed developments related to the recent round of talks between the United States and Iran, which were mediated by Pakistan and held in Islamabad. The talks aimed at ending the ongoing conflict between the two sides.
The phone call follows rare direct negotiations between Washington and Tehran that took place on Saturday in Islamabad. The discussions were part of broader efforts to ease tensions after the escalation that began on February 28, when the United States and Israel launched a joint offensive against Iran, prompting retaliatory strikes by Tehran targeting Israel, Iraq, Jordan, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
Despite initial optimism, the talks concluded early Sunday without reaching a formal agreement, highlighting the continued complexity of the situation.
The latest engagement between Riyadh and Tehran underscores ongoing regional diplomatic efforts to manage tensions and promote stability amid an increasingly volatile security environment.
