Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: Emomali Rahmon extended Eid Al-Adha greetings to the people of Tajikistan and urged citizens to observe the religious occasion with simplicity, moral values, and responsibility, while avoiding extravagance and wasteful spending.

In his Eid message, President Rahmon stated that Eid Al-Adha is not merely a religious ceremony but a sacred occasion rooted in ethical values and faith, which should be celebrated in accordance with principles of moderation and good management.

The Tajik leader recalled that nearly two decades ago, Tajikistan adopted the national law “On the Regulation of Traditions, Celebrations and Ceremonies,” which played an important role in establishing an organised culture for conducting ceremonies and preventing excess and unnecessary expenditure.

President Rahmon stressed that citizens should observe moderation during celebrations and especially during Eid festivities, avoiding displays of extravagance and wastefulness. He warned against turning religious traditions, which promote charity, generosity, and discipline, into displays of superstition and excessive showmanship.

The President emphasised that saving financial resources and refraining from unnecessary actions would allow families to focus more on the education and upbringing of their children, improving living conditions, and strengthening family welfare.

He further noted that God has placed human benefit and well-being at the centre of all religious obligations, rituals, and traditions.

President Rahmon also highlighted growing global challenges, saying the people of Tajikistan are well aware of the unstable and crisis-driven situation in the modern world. He pointed to rising food shortages and increasing prices in many countries across the globe.

“In such conditions, we must pay primary attention to the development of the national economy, make effective use of every piece of land, and think seriously about maintaining a two-year reserve of food supplies to ensure the well-being of our children and families,” he said.

The Tajik President called on citizens to work harder, increase domestic production, and strengthen the country’s food security, describing it as one of Tajikistan’s key strategic national objectives.
