Oman’s promotional workshops to attract tourists begin in Kuwait tomorrow
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The first mobile promotional workshops organised by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for the Gulf market to promote the heritage and tourism components of the Sultanate of Oman will begin in Kuwait on Sunday.
Haitham Mohammed Al Ghassani, Director General of Promotion at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism said: “Holding promotional workshops coincides with the beginning of the winter tourism season in Oman, which continues from October to May and is expected to witness great rush due to efforts made to promote tourism components.”
He added:” Promotional introductory seminars will also be held in Qatar, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates, with the participation of 15 local companies representing the hotel sector, travel agencies, and tour operators and destination management in Oman.”
He said that the tourism components of all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman are being promoted, and the focus is to encourage investments in old tourist villages, beach adventure tourism. The tourism patterns are trying to promote festivals that have proven successful in attracting tourists, he added.
He pointed out that the introductory seminars include holding events, such as meetings, visual presentations, bilateral discussions between participants, and dialogues about tourism products and components, to promote the Sultanate of Oman as a rich tourist destination with its heritage and tourism components, and the diversity of tourism activities and experiences.
He added that the importance and diversity of the Omani tourism product for the Gulf market will also be reviewed, and the differences in factors that distinguish the Sultanate of Oman as a preferred tourist destination for the Gulf market will be emphasised. It will also focus on communicating with major tourism companies in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, concluding joint cooperation agreements, and introducing regional companies to the most important tourism components, he said.
He pointed out that the promotional workshops aim to attract citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and residents of these countries of various nationalities, especially since there is a large percentage of foreign communities in these countries, and they are usually attracted by the activities, especially during the winter period.
Al-Ghassani explained that statistics indicate that the number of tourists coming from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries during the first half of this year reached more than 637,000, compared to more than 1,426,000 in 2022.
