International Conference on Audiovisual Journalism Held in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: An international scientific and practical conference titled “Issues of Audiovisual Journalism, Development Strategies and Adaptation of Standards” was held on March 31, 2026, at the Uzbekistan University of Journalism and Mass Communications.
The conference, organized by the university’s Faculty of Journalism under the Department of International and Audiovisual Journalism, brought together international experts, leading scholars, professors, researchers, journalists, bloggers, and students. The organizers announced that selected high-quality research papers presented at the event will be published in a compiled volume.
Opening remarks were delivered by Rector Sherzodxon Qudratxo‘ja, Doctor of Political Sciences and Professor, who emphasized the growing importance of audiovisual journalism in the rapidly evolving global media landscape.
The conference featured a diverse lineup of speakers from Uzbekistan and abroad, including participants from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Pakistan, and other countries, who joined both in-person and online sessions.
Among the notable speakers, Ko‘chimov Abdusaid, Director of the Uzbekistan National News Agency, discussed the transformation of the information space in the era of digitalization.
Muhammad Ali Pasha, Owner of The Gulf Observer and The Europe Today, delivered an online speech from Pakistan focusing on Uzbekistan–Pakistan relations and the role of media in strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Other prominent contributors included:
- Karimova Bibigul Jumashovna (Kazakhstan), who addressed the transformation of professional standards in audiovisual journalism in the age of artificial intelligence.
- Ahmet Akalin (Türkiye), who highlighted Samarkand’s contribution to Uzbekistan’s soft power as a center of international diplomacy.
- Shindaliyeva Menlikul Burxanovna (Kazakhstan), who explored the social responsibility of audiovisual journalism in contemporary society.
- Orazimbetova Zlixa Kdirbayevna, who spoke on innovative pedagogical approaches to training audiovisual journalists.
- Navbahor Karimova, political commentator and journalist at “O‘zbekiston 24,” who emphasized ethical responsibility in information delivery.
Additional sessions covered topics such as journalists’ speech culture, modern television reporting trends, dual education in journalism, and the development of personal branding in media.
Throughout the conference, speakers underscored the impact of digital transformation on audiovisual journalism, highlighting new approaches to content production, the integration of emerging technologies, and the need to enhance journalists’ professional competencies.
Participants also exchanged international experiences and proposed recommendations aimed at improving the quality of journalism education, promoting effective use of modern media technologies, and fostering innovation in the field. Special emphasis was placed on preparing young journalists to adapt to the rapidly evolving digital media environment.
The event served as a significant platform for dialogue among media professionals, academics, and emerging researchers, reinforcing collaboration and advancing the future of audiovisual journalism both regionally and globally.
