President Tokayev Reviews Strong Agricultural Growth and Sets New Development Priorities

Astana, The Gulf Observer: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Wednesday received Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov, who presented a detailed report on the agricultural sector’s performance over the first ten months of 2025, the Akorda press service said.
According to the briefing, the agricultural sector demonstrated steady progress, with the volume of agricultural production reaching KZT 8.1 trillion, marking a 5.4% year-on-year increase. Food production also grew significantly, amounting to KZT 3.1 trillion, a 9% rise compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan’s agricultural exports climbed to USD 4.7 billion.
The Minister informed the President of a series of reforms and support measures implemented over the past two years to strengthen the agro-industrial complex. These include the introduction of direct 5% loans for working capital replenishment and the leasing of agricultural machinery.
In line with President Tokayev’s earlier directives, the government increased total financing for the agro-industrial complex to KZT 1 trillion, with KZT 250 billion specifically allocated for preferential leasing of agricultural machinery. As a result, over 25,000 units of farm machinery were purchased in 2025, reducing the sector’s machinery wear-and-tear level from 90% to 70%.
Minister Saparov further reported that a Comprehensive Plan for Livestock Farming Development will soon be adopted in accordance with the President’s instructions.
Efforts to digitalize the sector are also underway through the creation of an integrated e-Agriculture digital ecosystem. The new system will unify subsidization processes, land fund management, crop production, livestock and fish farming, and connect all existing state information systems onto a single platform.
President Tokayev emphasized the need for effective implementation of the directives issued at the II Forum of Agricultural Workers, underscoring their importance for the continued development of the agro-industrial complex. He also assigned new tasks aimed at increasing sector efficiency and strengthening Kazakhstan’s food security.
